The transport and logistics sector is considered one of the key strategic pillars of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The Ministry of Transport focuses on improving the efficiency of services and performance in transportation and safety, while raising the quality standards for vehicles and public transportation in accordance with the highest global standards.
The Makkah Region holds special significance, as the ministry is implementing numerous strategic projects to facilitate services for residents and visitors, such as enhancing capacity and reducing traffic congestion on roads, as well as supporting investment projects. Additionally, transportation accounts for 30% of visitors’ expenditures (from pilgrims and umrah performers), which amounts to 40 billion SAR annually.
